
In martial arts, we can strengthen ourselves in two ways. One way is to increase the amount of the strength. This can be done by training our muscles. Another way is to refine the quality of our strength. This can be done by training ourselves to use our bodies more efficiently. For example, in Yiquan, while we meditate by standing in one posture, we try to relax and decrease the use of unnecessary strength. This way, we can have refined strengths that can penetrate into human bodies when we apply them to strike our opponents.
